Rumor has it that Beachwood High School is set to announce a new principal hire this week, and a top candidate is a MAGA extremist who actually had a photo of themselves at Mar A Lago on their primary social media page.

I don't know about you, but in this winter of wildly rampant anti-immigrant, anti-human Federal policies, I do not believe it is appropriate to put a school under the immediate direction of an extremist MAGA believer who apparently supports Trump's deportation policy and ICE army.

I really hope I'm understanding this wrong, because it looks like Beachwood BOE has gone full MAGA and is putting the futures of their immigrant students and students of color at risk.

A few if us nurses who are survivors run a Cancer group. One of our ladies had a birthday a few months ago and we were looking to order a specific cake she wanted. I called the restaurant Mutt and Jeffs in Lorain. The manager was actually out of town when I called, the staff tried really hard to find out where the cake came from but couldn't. So when the manager came back, I had called and was inquiring about getting a whole one. And even explained to him why and what the group was for and how it would really make her day. He said that he would sell me the cake that it cost them $55. For 80. Ummm...ummm...huh? They sell it by piece for 6.50$ fifty I believe. That kind of pissed us all off. Because I can get it by the slice cheaper than what you were trying to charge me. And I didn't really expect it to be at cost, but surely not more than what you sold it for in the restaurant. She ended up taking a turn for the worst. And we obviously couldn't do anything at that point. She has recovered nicely, and we were going to do a Half birthday. Because we couldn't do her birthday. And we really tried and celebrate all of our patients, because with this disease, you never know. We will need three cakes between us and the caretaker's group. We run the groups parallel, but they're in separate rooms with separate staff. So everyone has a chance to vent and say anything that they need to say without worrying about hurting the other person. But for parties and things we come together for the last little bit of the group and celebrate together. So I would really like to find out where this cake was ordered from, so I can contact that business myself. The man just really like gave us bad vibes. So, if we have to, we will order the cake by the slice or whatever. Because he said they come in ten, but I would really, really love to be able to go around him. She raves about this cake. It's her absolute favorite. And I really want to make sure she gets what she wants. THANK YOU!!!

I have to express some sadness. One of the Cleveland artists I have loved over the years took a gig at the Kennedy Center to promote some of the work that they developed on a retreat or something.

It's a tremendous honor, of course. But this artist had 20 years of good will and talent, and they could have easily been a Cleveland hero and said, "No thank you. Playing at the Kennedy Center is no longer a neutral act." People would have loved them for it. It felt really opportunistic, privileged, and tone deaf. Of course I'm delighted that their work is recognized at that scale. But... read the room.

It feels painful to see. I wish they had done better.
