Rockets got cooked by PP

u/SirFozzie 9h ago

PP was LARGE and forceful this game.

u/Admirable_Bed3 Nuggets 9h ago

The PP is bigger than your rocket

45

u/SquimJim Celtics 9h ago

They were getting cooked by Ron Harper Jr, Baylor Scheierman, and Luka Garza tbf

21

u/Artistic_Buffalo_715 Celtics 8h ago

Allowing a Baylor Scheierman double double should be immediate grounds for a year-long banishment to the G League

PP explodes on rockets

Big PP damage.

Amen Thompson not being able to slow down 6’1 Payton Pritchard is insane.

u/Admirable_Bed3 Nuggets 9h ago

First Rockets game I've seen in a minute. Everytime I hear about his (and the twin's) supreme athleticism and how he supposedly has all the tools to be an elite 2-way player but he got completely waxed. Is it just an effort issue with him?

Pritchard has been that good lately. If you don’t watch a lot Celtics you probably think he’s only a 3-pt specialist, but this guy can get wherever he wants on the court now. He gets into the paint at will it seems. Extremely polished midrange game.

u/fredinNH Celtics 8h ago

And he rebounds, makes plays, and is a shockingly good defender for his size.

49

u/halo364 Celtics 8h ago

And is on a ridiculously good contract

12

u/NickLidstrom [SAC] Isaiah Thomas 7h ago

Which might actually be a problem given how hard it will be to extend him (although that's a problem for another day ofc)

u/instantur Celtics 19m ago

Heis under contract until 2028 so that's a problem for another day.

16

u/King_Of_Pants [BOS] Terry Rozier 4h ago

One of the most efficient ISO players in the league right now too.

He gets into the paint at will it seems.

And just bullies guys.

Seems to love having bigger defenders in the paint and using his lower center of gravity to push them around.

u/Coolcat127 Wizards 8h ago

He can’t shoot at all, his offensive game is super limited by that

Really ?

Payton Pritchard a different beast when he’s going

2

u/efshoemaker Celtics 1h ago

No he’s very good, and he destroyed the Celtics last time we played.

But Pritchard when he’s on always does well against bigger defenders. He’s a lot stronger than people expect and he’s really good at going into the body and then backing off to create space.

u/noBbatteries 33m ago

Pritchard can just put a dude in a blender. Not many guys in the NBA of his size and speed to practice against, so when he’s on, he’ll be a tough cover for basically any of the other 29 teams in the league

0

u/GioVasari121 Warriors 39m ago

He just holds and grabs players. Half the time it works cause refs allow it. The remaining games he gets cooked like this.

6

u/relax_live_longer Celtics 7h ago

He’s 6’1 but he’s got that core strength with leverage and he moves defenders.

3

u/devonhezter 5h ago

Yes it is

Celtics fans, congrats on IT 2.0 that can rebound and defend (I say this begrudgingly as a Lakers fan)

“Payton Pritchard since moving to the bench”

honestly Pritchard going back to playing against bench lineups after starting all season is like Rock Lee taking the weights off

I get why she was mad but it was a decent comparison lol

118

u/Spinexel [BOS] Romeo Langford 9h ago edited 9h ago

Not really. Pritchard is far better than her right now.

Edit:

Caitlin Clark shot 36% from the field and 27% from 3. Pritchard is shooting 46% from the field and 35% from three.

Caitlin Clark is averaging 8 assists with FIVE TURNOVERS. Pritchard averaging 5 with 1 turnover.

She’s a great player but is still young. Will improve. Pritchard is in his prime and has been balling.

44

u/WayneTerry9 Pelicans 9h ago

I mean she’s getting far more attention defensively and was playing through injury, but fair enough FastPP has better shooting splits than I’d thought

37

u/Spinexel [BOS] Romeo Langford 8h ago

And he’s worse than last year. Last season he was a 40% 3 point shooter. Clark is a chucker rn but hopefully she’ll put in the work. Payton is having a mind-blowing season eye-test wise.

u/APx_22 42m ago

Bro she also plays in the wnba lol come one now

5

u/WayneTerry9 Pelicans 31m ago

I mean she’s a woman also, so what’s your point lol

u/chakrablocker Thunder 21m ago

That the comp wasn't offensive

u/WayneTerry9 Pelicans 10m ago

That is damn near exactly what I said my first comment that started this thread lol

u/APx_22 16m ago

Yes that’s what the W stands for

36

u/Maximum_Airport_8604 8h ago

No dizz and I love CC but my god I didn’t realize her efficieny was that bad especially with the shorter 3 pt line

30

u/purplebuffalo55 7h ago

The efficiency in the women’s game is just way worse than the men’s across the board. It’s not really fair to compare them 1:1. The reffing and game is just entirely different

9

u/recollectionsmayvary Nets 7h ago

She only played 13 games this season and was significantly hurt starting from preseason

9

u/BlackMilk23 [BOS] Rajon Rondo 8h ago

To be fair she was hurt.

But yeah last year she wasn't really that good. People got on the coaches and players when their all star vote didn't match the fan vote but they actually were pretty accurate.

That being said she's obviously not the equivalent of Peyton Pritchard. She's a slightly less ball dominant Luka.

6

u/Spinexel [BOS] Romeo Langford 8h ago

Shorter 3 point line and smaller ball. Her rookie year was better. She chucks like Melo.

1

u/BeatBlockP Spurs 3h ago

We are all happy to get the women's game hyped but come on now, it's amateur hour out there.

As long as you can make more money being a teacher than a WNBA player it's gonna stay that way. The tipping point is when being a medical doctor is the poor career choice vs. being a starter (like the NBA 30 years ago - today it's true even for the 12th man) - they are a long, long way from there.

3

u/kms_daily 5h ago

wow didn’t know fg% is this abysmal in wnba

I've been a huge Payton Pritchard fan for years. He's awesome. Has been awesome. Keeps improving every year. Love everything about his game. Fun to watch, fun to root for.

3

u/hugelkult Raptors 7h ago

Hes like rollerblades, you never knew how awesome theyd be till you got some

37

u/flaming_burrito_ Lakers 9h ago

I don’t get why people were clutching their pearls about that. Caitlin Clark is good, but she’s played two seasons and was out due to injury for most of the 2nd. She hasn’t done shit to be compared to all-star level players in the NBA yet. And Pritchard is nice as hell. Give her a few years and I’m sure she’ll be amazing, but right now I feel the hype is overshadowing her actual level of play

21

u/fredinNH Celtics 8h ago

Most people don’t see Pritchard play much. He’s really quite good at basketball.

47

u/DragoniteGang Timberwolves 9h ago

Disrespectful to PP. Caitlin Clark looking like Lamelo that couldn't hit 30% 3p instead

13

u/HilaryHahn 5h ago

I had no idea how insanely inefficient Caitlin Clark is. Some people say WNBA players are all inefficient but I just checked and there's a whole 11 players averaging above 40% 3pt rn, including the leader Sonia Citron who's shooting at 44.5% from the 3pt. At this point her NBA comparison is like Melo past his prime.

17

u/tsaidollasign Warriors 9h ago

these "x player since y" should at least be like over 6 games

To be fair bro is averaging career high 18ppg

8

u/yourlilpissboi Celtics 8h ago

Some of us tried our hardest to tell young about PP. PP need to be the first option at the end of quarters with the ball in his. PP definitely top 5 best contract in the league.

Caitlin Clark wished she could be this efficient in the pros
