Can't blame him that hole is barely noticeable

u/salteedog007 6h ago

Orrrr… what kind of backwater infrastructure cuts massive open holes into the sewer at regular intervals without any warning or protective measures?

Welcome to India

Thanks for hating on India

u/NigraOvis 6h ago

It surprises me how anyone doesn't realize the entire world doesn't work like their country.

141

u/Sweet_Temperature630 6h ago

Doesn't excuse whatever tf is going on with those big ass holes, doesn't matter what country it is. Get some caution tape, a cone, or something at least

Scooter guy definitely should have been paying better attention tho

u/b0bkakkarot 6h ago

"Excuse"? The India Government doesnt need no excuse. They do what they want 😎

A true Alpha government, not like the beta governments of the western world who feel like they have to listen to "the people". I mean, we've all met people, people are dumb, so who cares what they want, amirite?

26

u/SomewhatHungover 4h ago

It’s a tough choice really, they either spend the money on safety equipment, or keep it for themselves.

1

u/AlbatrossNew3633 2h ago

Have Trump read this and he'll drop India's tariff to 0% and will try to become best buddies with your PM

0

u/grandinosour 43m ago

TDS alert!!!!

2

u/TimeLine_DR_Dev 5h ago

Both are true

2

u/Successful_Glove_83 4h ago

Yeah should've slapped some tape on that

2

u/Man_in_the_uk 2h ago

A few comes with shiny yellow tape around them wouldn't cost much.

23

u/TCRandom 6h ago

In their defense, they’re wondering why anyone would create these without a single warning or protective measure. And they aren’t wrong. They didn’t say anything about OSHA or their specific country’s safety regulations.

12

u/Electrical-Art9601 5h ago

A big hole where the sidewalk should be obviously doesn't work in this country

Are you defending holes in sidewalks? Are you that stupid?

5

u/bananasaurusprime 5h ago

I think they’re saying there are countries where your problems become my problems, and then there are other countries where your problem is not my problem.

In the latter case, if I need to cut a hole in the sidewalk, I’m going to cut the hole and that’s it. What happens to you after that is not my problem.

1

u/Irichcrusader 2h ago

The basic explenation is corruption and incompetence. City officials will accept the lowest bids from contractors for infrastructure, and the contractors will then cut corners to increase their profits. It's just something people live with in these parts. Stuff rarely gets fixed, and people just learn to have peripheral vision and avoid these things. Guy in the video clearly didn't, and I can near guarantee most would blame him for being an idiot. Nevermind that the hole shouldn't have been there in the first place.

1

u/Stock2fast 1h ago

Apparently that is exactly what they are doing and they are claiming to point that logical flaw out is hateful and deflecting rather than addressing than actual issue.

3

u/Mathfanforpresident 4h ago

INDIA HAS A ROCKET PROGRAM WHEN THEY COULD SPEND THE MONEY ON INFRASTRUCTURE AND SAVE LITERALLY 50 BILLION IN HEALTH EXPENDITURES EACH YEAR.

Rocket program produces 5 billion a year vs the 50 billion estimated to be saved by spending the money on infrastructure. Look it up.

Stop making excuses.

u/Zimakov 1h ago

Reddit is mostly American

u/wasdninja 17m ago

Leaving deep open holes in well trafficked areas is shitty in every part of the world where it's even possible to happen. Literally zero safety is a choice. A shitty choice.

u/get_to_ele 13m ago

Yeah it’s like people never saw a WELL before.

3

u/Ch00m77 6h ago

Welcome to Asia in general

2

u/78JEM 2h ago

It’s not just India. You get this sort of thing all over Asia.

1

u/jigmelingpa 2h ago

Calling bullshit on this, unless you’re talking about Myanmar. India is its own special place. And maybe you should actually go to Asia sometime before talking stupid shit.

1

u/78JEM 1h ago

I live in the UAE. Thanks for your reply though. 👍🏻

2

u/Stock2fast 1h ago

Pointing out a major safety hazard does not = hating on India , however ignoring the issue and deflecting has that result.

u/ikzz1 1h ago

Are these holes for women to escape in case a gang rape descended upon them?

32

u/stevein3d 6h ago

“We have a massive overpopulation problem. What can we do about it?”
“As always, ask yourself ‘What would Rajinikanth do?’”
“Punch giant holes in the pavement so that some of us fall to a watery grave?”
“Exactly.”
“But won’t that pollute the water system??” Both burst out laughing

4

u/Irichcrusader 3h ago

Welcome to south/south-east asia in general. Open holes are a common thing, though this is by far the biggest I've seen.

My Malaysian friend once told a story from when he was a kid, running to the car for a family outing and landing straight in some dark hole. He had no idea what had happened for the first few seconds.

1

u/jigmelingpa 2h ago

Have you been to Malaysia recently?

u/DjinKFear 4m ago

Even in many southeast asia country, the hole is usually pretty small and not that much (not saying that there's barely any open hole, but atleast usually it's far enough between each other and nowadays there's rarely any open holes (atleast in where I live)). Based on what we see in this video, there's another huge gaping hole lol. That's just weird, wonder why this holes exist...

2

u/Tom_Ace2 1h ago

Wait, you guys have infrastructure?

u/get_to_ele 11m ago

That’s not a sewer. That’s for drinking water. The potty holes are bigger and have more visible solids in them.

26

u/Sunscreen4what 6h ago

Imagine how desensitized to filth you’d have to be to not notice that massive sewage pit.

3

u/TheLoneBlrReader 6h ago

May be he moved from a first world country where such things as open drains without barriers could result in a lawsuit against the state .

1

u/GrouchyLongBottom 6h ago

It was coming right for him!

1

u/Ok_Primary_1075 2h ago

I think that just his overnight parking spot

1

u/elgydium 1h ago

Especially while doing a U-turn backwards lol

1

u/0plm9okn8ijb7 32m ago

It wasn't there when he rode the scooter.

u/get_to_ele 14m ago

And if they covered that hole up, where would people fill their buckets for drinking water?

208

u/Vegetable_Pay_2268 6h ago

Out of everywhere he could have gone….

32

u/Civil-Thing-777 5h ago

Video cut too short, he came out as a supervillain who will take revenge on city works

1

u/XTornado 2h ago

Yeah he was eventually called Super......Death by deadly baterical and virical infection

3

u/cranberrie_sauce 2h ago

I would hate to live in India. literally worst cards in life

115

u/iXeons 6h ago

The way life went on for everyone else lol he’s like a background character from naked gun

-20

u/Then-Veterinarian-41 3h ago

Including the camera man, what the...?!?

7

u/Irichcrusader 2h ago

I believe its a CCTV camera.

71

u/PandoricaFire 6h ago

Did he die?

18

u/RoronoaZoro3Swords 6h ago

May be no

34

u/Odd_Leek3026 6h ago

Very reassuring

8

u/LongjumpingNeat241 5h ago

100% infected waters.

1

u/deadriderofdead 6h ago

Of cringe maybe, physically? I think hes fine.

u/EllisDee3 1m ago

Eventually.

-3

u/Wild-Growth6805 6h ago

Looks like it may be likely.

64

u/Karlzbad 6h ago

I mean something is definitely going to go wrong if you live somewhere with open giant pits in the sidewalk

16

u/Charlie_Kasper 5h ago

Yeah that's India for you.

49

u/FracturedConscious 6h ago

What in the third world

1

u/cretzzzu3000 1h ago

Hole in the third world

24

u/actually3racoons 6h ago

So, uhh.... That's a pretty long time for him to have not popped back up. Kinda wonder if he ever did.

1

u/eanida 2h ago

Someone else linked to a source saying he was helped up.

r/Whatcouldgowrong/s/esGv1ek8b1

14

u/Clear_Lead 6h ago

You can’t park there

11

u/littlerrip 6h ago

Falling back first in a pool of murky city water a with motorized scooter failing right on top of you, ready to squeeze the air out of you sounds like complete disaster.. hope he survived

2

u/Jaded-Lifeguard-3915 5h ago

He probably wishes he didn't 💩

12

u/Bacteriaforlife 6h ago

Who left their gaping hole out like that?

8

u/Ok_Mechanic3385 6h ago

"Your mom".

Boom!

2

u/Gen-Y-ine-86 6h ago

I'm pretty sure it just randomly appeared.

It's just your normal everyday phenomenon.

10

u/ElJugo247 6h ago

I’d hate to fall in a hole with stale water on there 🤢

15

u/CAP_IMMORTAL 6h ago

Stale? It's not just stale lol

6

u/GuerillaRiot 6h ago

I'd have preferred falling onto a bunch of spikes than that nasty ass water

8

u/b0bkakkarot 6h ago

If video games have taught me anything, that green liquid is either poison or toxin

7

u/brandonbruce 6h ago

Soo many dead bodies down there. Tisk. Basically a human pitcher plant.

4

u/Yondar 6h ago

It goes bike - body - bike - body - bike - body ... for dozens of meters...

8

u/Popular-Set1764 6h ago

Welcome to India

4

u/EmilyAnne1170 5h ago

Words I plan to never hear in real life.

1

u/Falkenmond79 3h ago

As sad as it is, yeah, me neither.

6

u/TrippingFish76 4h ago

something my father taught me that stays in my head: never reverse more than you have to

4

u/navcom20 6h ago

Well, shit

3

u/MuricanNEurope 6h ago

That guy really made a splash

2

u/Lucky-Mia 6h ago

Was never heard from again

2

u/intr0v3rt13 6h ago

I hope he is ok

2

u/PrincePound 6h ago

Don't mind the huge nasty pits of death all around

2

u/StunningError4693 6h ago

I will never complain about over-regulated Germany again! A simple barrier would have saved the man the bath, and the scooter wouldn't be a submarine now.

u/osa89 10m ago

Yeah we do take public safety for granted. Europe invests a lot in public safety (food quality control, roadways, permit regulations for constructions/repairs, etc that all reduce accidents like this - they seem like nuisances from the other side but they are all there to protect the everyday person)

2

u/Electrical-Art9601 6h ago

I love being in countries with open water pits replacing the sidewalk

2

u/ReturnRadio 5h ago

At least where I live, the giant holes in the street have orange cones around them.

2

u/TonZ-BS 5h ago

Yes, these giant sewer holes of death won’t make me look at my surroundings

2

u/Jaxthor 2h ago

i was gonna say full circle, but it’s only half

1

u/Powerful_Plan9850 6h ago

This still will not change. Only after someone dies and people protest they ll fix it. Until then, many more such death traps will stay ready.

1

u/bskinners 6h ago

Would be a big money lawsuit in 🇺🇸

1

u/oldinfant 6h ago

did they die?..

1

u/QuevedoDeMalVino 6h ago

Guy really learnt to pay attention to surroundings the hard way.

1

u/deanrihpee 6h ago

lack of spatial awareness strikes again

1

u/stonedfish 6h ago

It’s not what could go wrong for reversing a scooter, it’s what could go wrong for living in a country without tort law.

1

u/rickztoyz 6h ago

Where did little Tommy go? Oh, he was playing out in front of the street a little while ago. Ok, no big deal.

1

u/Life-Oil-7226 6h ago

Dude needs to be decontaminated ASAP!!

1

u/aldone123 6h ago

Looks like snakes or something in the water got him

1

u/Mr-Big-Nicky-P 6h ago

Oh he dead

1

u/my-name-is-squirrel 5h ago

I've seen how this plays out...

1

u/DeadXmanXx 5h ago

That hole has seen things

1

u/Efficient-Arugula-25 5h ago

and I was looking for how does he reserve the scooter 😂

1

u/Ohmyman00 5h ago

Foresight was sacrificed so he could learn the cousin, Hindsight. 👏🏽

1

u/bussysniffer3000 5h ago

And no one saw him fall in which is scary

1

u/Lily_in_the_dusk 4h ago

He was going for a stroll to catch a bath

1

u/No-Remote-2899 4h ago

I saw that one a centimeter away!

1

u/captkz 4h ago

Soooo...is he dead?!

1

u/RudeOrganization550 4h ago

On the upside he now has super powers from the radioactive water

1

u/Good_Analysis9789 4h ago

Not too big on the ol basic safety standards over there

1

u/Jinli_Cai 3h ago

Why didn't the rider emerge from the water?!

1

u/StraightAd5770 2h ago

It's like he was destined for that specific pothole. The sheer indifference of everyone just walking by is the perfect punchline.

1

u/ResponsibleFly8965 1h ago

I can recognise my glorious country in the video, pretty easy too

1

u/ThinkingOz 1h ago

Talk about not paying attention to your surroundings. This person was destined for disaster, one way or the other.

1

u/thatvintagething 1h ago

I bet there’s 100 of them in there

1

u/Effective-Benefit-46 1h ago

some isekai writer just got an idea

We Indians are shameless for not blaming gov for this shit

-2

u/wobblejuice 6h ago

Most people in India cannot swim and generally panic in water.
